Description	:	Mrs. Irma Bookout Thomason died on February 23, 2011. She was born in Rector, AR on June 18, 1914. Irma was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev. Elmo A. Thomason. Also preceding her were her parents Simon Bookout and Finer Wagner Bookout, her brothers Hilary, Bill, Cecil, Marvin, and J.W., her sisters Bessie Manning, Ruth Blackshare, Alma Mobley, and Lora Holifield, and her foster grandson Philip A. Read More	Mrs. Irma Bookout Thomason died on February 23, 2011. She was born in Rector, AR on June 18, 1914. Irma was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev. Elmo A. Thomason. Also preceding her were her parents Simon Bookout and Finer Wagner Bookout, her brothers Hilary, Bill, Cecil, Marvin, and J.W., her sisters Bessie Manning, Ruth Blackshare, Alma Mobley, and Lora Holifield, and her foster grandson Philip A. Bookout. Survivors include her son Dr. Dana A. Thomason and his wife Martha of Russellville, her grandson Jonathan M. Thomason of Alexandria, VA and his mother Catherine Pierce Thomason of Conway. Also surviving are her foster son Simon D. Bookout and wife Paula of Little Rock, granddaughter Amy Bookout Christie, husband David and great grandchildren Nicholas Philip Christie and Olivia Margaret Christie of Waltham, MA. She is also survived by sister-in-law Glenna Bookout of Rector and several nieces and nephews. Irma attended Arkansas State University and taught elementary school in Boydsville, Rector, and Waldron, AR. She was a member of Conway First United Methodist Church and was active for many years in United Methodist Women of which she was a Lifetime Member. During her years a minister's wife, Mrs. Thomason was involved in many aspects of the United Methodist Church both locally and conference wide. She traveled extensively with her husband, Elmo, as they participated in United Methodist conferences both nationally and internationally. Although the Thomasons enjoyed many friendships through the years, one of Irma's favorite things was to be with the retired United Methodist minister's wives during their last years in Conway. Mrs. Thomason's greatest joy, however, was to be with her immediate family, her brothers and sisters, and her many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Woodland Heights Cemetery, Rector, AR.
