Description	:	Irma G. (Larson) Knief (1902 - 2004) Irma G. Knief was born on a farm in Otter Creek Township, rural Deloit, Iowa, September 16, 1902, the daughter of Frank and Annie Meyers Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She was raised on the farm and received her education in the Township No. 7 rural school near their home. Knief was born on a farm in Otter Creek Township, rural Deloit, Iowa, September 16, 1902, the daughter of Frank and Annie Meyers Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She was raised on the farm and received her education in the Township No. 7 rural school near their home. In addition to helping at home she did domestic work for others in the area. On February 1, 1922, Irma was united in marriage with Herman Knief at Omaha, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with three children, Cyrenus, Gloria and Marian. They made their home on the farm four miles south of Kiron where Irma was a busy homemaker and farmwife, assisting her husband in any way that was needed. During the harvest seasons Irma would assist the neighbors with feeding the threshing crews. Herman and Irma loved to dance and would often sponsor dances. In 1944 they retired from the farm and moved to Kiron. Irma will be remembered by her family for her love of pets, baking, playing cards, having picnics and keeping an immaculate home. For many years Irma had a large garden and canned it's produce to share with family and friends. After over 70 years of marriage, Irma's beloved Herman died November 12, 1992. Irma remained in her home in Kiron until November of 1999 when she moved to the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa. Irma died at the Care Center Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2004, having been blessed with 101 years, 5 months and 16 days. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron. Including her parents and husband, Irma was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Rudolph Larson, one sister, Edith Hawley, one great granddaughter, Melissa VanSickler, one daughter-in-law. Lois Knief and two sons-in-law. Bruce Bergren and Wayne Peterson. Those remaining to cherish her memory include one son, Cyrenus Knief and wife, Jeannetta of Deloit, Iowa, Gloria and husband, Gene Bergman of Kiron, Iowa and Marian Peterson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, 7 grandchildren. 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday. March 5, 2004 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron, Iowa with the Rev. Trish Underberg officiating.
