Zion, Iowa, April 30, 1864, and died at her home in Birmingham, March 11, 1945 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 11 days, following an illness of two weeks. She was married to Arthur Porter, March 30, 1887 and to them were born two children, Mrs. Ralph Workman and Mrs. Harley Beggs, both of whom survived their parents. Mr. Porter died June 5, 1923. Ely, daughter of Joseph and Mary Ager Hootman, was born near Mt. Zion, Iowa, April 30, 1864, and died at her home in Birmingham, March 11, 1945 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 11 days, following an illness of two weeks. She was married to Arthur Porter, March 30, 1887 and to them were born two children, Mrs. Ralph Workman and Mrs. Harley Beggs, both of whom survived their parents. Mr. Porter died June 5, 1923. She was married to Bert Ely March 27, 1927 and he died April 1, 1934 (sic. where is he buried ??). She was also preceded in death by one sister, Jennie and three brothers, Chester, John and William Hootman. Survivors besides her two daughters are two brothers, Howard Hootman of Fairfield and Ray of Great Falls, Mont., and a number of nieces and nephews. All of her life was spent in the Birmingham, Kilbourne and Fairfield vicinity, 26 years of which she lived in Birmingham with the exception of seven years in Fairfield. Funeral services were held at the Catcott funeral home in Birmingham, Tuesday afternoon, March 13 at 2 o'clock afternoon, in charge of Rev. H. C. Irvine. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
