Irwin Olaf Landers was born on May 15, 1928 in Kenmare, the son of Harry and Gina (Monson) Landers. He was raised and educated in the Kenmare area and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1947. Read More	Irwin Landers, 87 of Kenmare, ND passed away Tuesday September 1, 2015 at his son’s residence in Kansas City, M0. Irwin Olaf Landers was born on May 15, 1928 in Kenmare, the son of Harry and Gina (Monson) Landers. He was raised and educated in the Kenmare area and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1947. In 1948, he joined the Army and served overseas in the Korean War. After being discharged from the Army in 1952, he returned to Kenmare to continue farming. On October 6, 1957, he was united in marriage to Ruby Landers. They made their home on a farm in Spencer Township, where he actively farmed until Spring of 2008. At which time, his focus and efforts were on caring for his wife, Ruby in Jamestown, ND until her death in 2009. Since Ruby’s passing, he traveled between his farm and children’s residences until July of 2013. He then resided at his son’s residence in Kansas City, until his death. During this season, he enjoyed playing games (wist, and chess especially). Throughout every season of life, he has wholeheartedly adored his wife Ruby, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Irwin thoroughly loved music and invested in his children’s interests. Irwin had a great sense of humor which was expressed more in his later years. Life proved him to be a man of prayer and his trust in the Lord was inspirational to many! Simple joys were a highlight for him, including the companionship of various dogs over the years. Those who shared his life: Wife of 51 years Ruby; Children: Susan (Thilmer) Roemmich, Jamestown ND, James (Renita) Landers, Kansas City, MO, Karen (deceased) (Don) Handford, Fort Worth, TX, Donna (Scott) Gill, Rockford, IL, Denis Landers, Rockford, IL; 14 Grandchildren: Brandon Roemmich, April (Roemmich) Lusby, Josh (JoAnna), Audrey, Amanda Landers, Marcia (Chris) Wilson, Katie (Casey) Vermillion, Suzi Hanford, Christina (Brian) Norby, Jennifer (Luke) Hutchison, Matthew, Michael, Nicholas, Sarah Gill; Nine Great-Grandchildren: Larissa, Isaiah Lusby; Sierra, Katie, Cyra, Carson Roemmich; Libby, Eli Landers, Kaitlynn Vermillion. Brothers: Allen (Margie), Milton (Johnny), Herman (Altha), Donald (Wanda) Landers; Sisters: Emma (Gordon) Anderson, and Hazel (John) Sorenson; Numerous nieces and nephews. Irwin was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen Hanford, wife Ruby, brothers, Allen (Margie), Milton (Johnny), Donald; sisters: Emma (Gordon), Hazel (John); nephews: Dean Anderson, Kenneth Landers. Funeral: Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Kenmare Church of the Nazarene. Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
