Description	:	DIED AT COUNTY HOME The death of Isaac F. Rains occurred in the County Home two miles south of Red Oak, Sunday, August 13, after a short illness. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. W. B. Thompson of the Methodist Church and the remains interred in the Villisca Cemetery. Deceased was born in Highland County, Ohio 82 years ago on October 14, 1829. He was married early in life on March 3, 1853 to Mary Rains. Thompson of the Methodist Church and the remains interred in the Villisca Cemetery. Deceased was born in Highland County, Ohio 82 years ago on October 14, 1829. He was married early in life on March 3, 1853 to Mary Rains. He is survived by five sons and four daughters and his widow who lives in Villisca. In religion he was a Quaker and by trade a carpenter and until the last few years of his life was a man of activity and influence. In 1862 he came to Adams County and resided there for many years, later coming to Montgomery County. At one time he owned the lade where the town of Nodaway now stands. During the later years of his life he referred the seclusion of the County Home to the of the more liberal homes which were open to him and spent his declining years in the quiet life offered him at the official retreat. Villisca; born in Highland County, Ohio, October 15, 1829, and at the age of twenty-one years, having learned the millwright trade with his father, who was a millwright by trade, went to work in a mill in Ross County, Ohio; He was married to Miss Mary Rains, March 3, 1851, by the Rev. James McGee, J. P., of Vinton County, Ohio. Mrs. Rains was the daughter of Benjamin and Susan Rains, natives of North Carolina. Mr. Rains was engaged in buying and selling land; was in the state militia and assisted in the capture of John Morgan while on his raid in Ohio. in November, 1864, emigrated to Montgomery County, Iowa, and his family followed in the spring of 1865; he owned the farm where Nodaway town now is, in Adams County. He made many changes in his location and is finally located on section 21. Have nine children: Benjamin F., John W., Edward D., Thomas, Emma, Rebecca A., Ida, Minnie, and Lavina.
