Description	:	Civil War Veteran is Summoned Funeral of Isaac Caparoon to be held Friday Isaac Caparoon 89, a veteran of the Civil War, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Norman Penticost (sic), north of Morning Sun, Wednesday morning, July 23 following a several week's illness. The funeral services will be held from the Penticost(sic) home Friday afternoon at 2:30 and will be a Military Service. The American Legion and the Women's Relief Corps having a part in the service. Mr. Caparoon was a member of the Catholic church. The interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Isaac Martin Caparoon was born June 25, 1841 in Franklin Co., Ohio and was a son of William and Mary Ann Stafford Caparoon. He came to Iowa in 1855. In 1863 he accompanied a wagon train to California most of the way as a driver, the latter end of the trip being employed in the Pony Express in which manner the mails were carried across the country in those days. In December of the same year he enlisted in Co. F. 1st California Cavalry Vol. and was discharged at Santa Fe, New Mexico September 12, 1866. After his discharge he accompanied an escort for General Sherman from New Mexico to St. Louis, from which place he returned to Iowa. He was united in marriage to Louisa Pack near Mitchelville in 1869. Mrs. Caparoon died several years ago. The surviving children are: Clark Caparoon of Morning Sun. William of Gordon, Nebraska, George of Kansas City, Edward of Salem, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Russel of Eldridge, Missouri, Mrs. Alice Crow of Morehead, Minnesota, Mrs. Grace Rothenberger of Holyoke, Colorado, Mrs. Bertha Penticost (sic)of Morning Sun. One brother, William and one sister, Mrs. W. A. Steele both of Morning Sun are still living. Mr. and Mrs. Rothenberger, William Caparoon, and George Caparoon are expected here for the funeral.
