William Caparoon was born of parents of Irish descent in the year of 1854 at Elmwood, Illinois, at the early age of 1 year he moved with his parents to Morning Sun Iowa where he spent the remainder of his time. He was united in marriage to Mariah Jane Limens on December 28, 1876 at Morning Sun. There were three girls and nine sons born to this marriage two daughters, Minnie and Lucy and five sons George, James, William, Edgar, and Thomas having preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, a daughter Mrs. William Stroup, four sons Samuel of Minn. Elmer and Clyde of this city and Earl of Ohio. Also one sister Mrs. Tillie Steele of Wapello, 21 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Mr. Caparoon was pastor of the Local Free Methodist Church a number of years and later an elder. He was a man of high moral character, industrious habits and a personality of rare sweetness of spirit, which will long be remembered in the community. He passed away December 6 at 5 pm of a heart attack. Leaving behind a host of friends to mourn his loss. As he lived he died. Source: Morning Sun News-Herald, December 13, 1934
