Read More	Wenatchee World - June 26, 2002 Isabel Healam Dunbar June 6, 1904-June 24, 2002 Leaving this earth less than a mile from where she entered it, Isabel Healam Dunbar was promoted to Glory from Methow on June 24, 2002, about two weeks after her 98th birthday. She spent her lifetime in Okanogan County except for the years of teacher training at Bellingham Normal School, now Western Washington University. Her husband, Mark Dunbar, preceded her in death in 1963. Together they had a ranch along the Okanogan River near Malott. Before moving back to Isabel's girlhood home in Methow, they also managed a ranch near Monse. Later, they owned the Methow Store and then an apple orchard. As a teacher, Isabel made a lasting impression on many who are now Okanogan County "old timers." Through the years, she shared many happy memories of her students with her family and friends. It was while teaching in the Watson District near Pateros that she met Mark, who convinced her that being a rancher's wife was preferable to teaching. She was a member of the Methow Community Church. Isabel's family, who rejoice in her homegoing, are Virgil and Lorraine Dunbar of Portland, OR, Dorothy and Bruce Harvey of Tuscon, AZ, Tom and Ellen Dunbar of Asuncion, Paraguay, South America and Mary and Lyle Heath of Methow, who cared for her for several months. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, all of whom cherish happy memories of Grandma Dunbar. In lieu of flowers, Isabel's family suggest donations to World Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 948, Marion, IN 46952-0948, or to a favorite charity. A Memorial Service will be held at the Methow Community Church on June 29, 2002 at 1 p.m. Services are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
