Female, white, widow. Her father listed as Bazella Wright of MO. Mother listed Unknown also of MO. J. W. Kaylor was informant. Note, That would be her son, James. Interred date Dec. 11, 1938, J W Klingner & Co. funeral home. Cause of death was general senility and contributory listed was acute bronchitis. Their suggestion: ----------------- Isabella Carolina Wright, called "Carrie", was born March 15, 1856, in Pilot Grove Township, in Moniteau County, east of Latham, Mo. She was the 11th child of Christian Swindell and Barzilla Wright, who came here from White County, Tenn. in 1849. When a young girl, their post office was at "Old Magnolia", where they attended church. She was married to Isaac Kaylor, Nov. 28, 1874. Isaac, or "Ike" as he was called, came here from Washington County, Virginia. He had been married before to Emeline Smith who died and left him with five children: Alice married Jeff Cunningham; Kate, William; Letha married Ben Finley; and Hiram Kaylor. Carrie was 18 when she married Ike; his oldest child was three years younger, and Hiram was six years old. Carrie had a ready-made family when she married Ike. To Ike and Carrie were born 9 children in Moniteau County: John, Nora Lee, Georgia, Ollie Pearl, Hugh, Bertha, Blanche, Orville, and James. Ike and Carrie moved to Rich Hill, Mo. Ike died there. Carrie's second marriage was to a Mr. Fletcher of Indiana. It's sorta like a story-book story of how they met and married. Carrie's neighbor knew a man in Indiana who wanted to marry a nice lady about his age. Letters were exchanged between Carrie and Mr. Fletcher back and forth, until they decided to meet in St. Louis and get married. To recognize each other at Union Station, she had on a certain colored hat with large plume and dress to match. He would have a white flower in his lapel. That's how they met and married and went to Lagarta, Indiana, to live. Carrie's two younger sons lived with them. Carrie's third husband, Fred Karstetter, is buried at Flag Spring by his first wife. Carrie died Dec. 8, 1938, buried at Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, Mo. From the 1980 edition of Moniteau County Missouri History. *******************************************************
