Description	:	Ithamar Gaddy was married to Charity Pitman. According to the large Gaddy Family Memorial Marker at the front of the cemetery (erected by descendants about 1990) he was the son of Thomas and Lucy Gaddy. Ithamar and Charity were married October 6, 1791, according to the inscription on the large family memorial marker discussed below and on the main cemetery page. They are: - William Gaddy, Hardy Gaddy, and Elizabeth (Gaddy) Grantham, who are all buried in this cemetery near their parents; - James Gaddy, who is buried at the James Gaddy Cemetery across the state line in Robeson County, NC; - Allen Gaddy and Mary (Gaddy) Stackhouse, who are buried at the Roper Cemetery in Dillon County; - Nancy (Gaddy) Hayes, who is buried at the Hayes High Hill Cemetery in Dillon County); and - Silas Gaddy, who is buried at the Gaddy Cemetery in Drew County, Arkansas. Ithamar's grave marker is still standing - the only one in the front row that is not fallen, it stands between his wife, Charity, and their son, Hardy. Ithamar's marker is of softer stone than Charity's, and is a similar stone to his son Hardy and Hardy's wife, Winnefred. Ithamar's inscription is more legible than the fallen ones, though, due to being upright with less exposure to the weather. In the photo of Ithamar's marker the tombstone of his son, William C. Gaddy, is shown in the second row. Shown in the other photo: the tree down across the large Gaddy Family Memorial Marker at the front of the cemetery. Ithamar's tombstone is the tall upright one in upper left corner of this photo. Charity's fallen marker is just visible on the ground to the left of Ithamar's; Hardy and Winnefred markers are barely visible on the ground beyond and to the right of Ithamar. The two small markers on the far right beside the trees are the Carmichael daughter and grandson of Hardy's daughter, Elizabeth (Gaddy) Carmichael. Next photo is a section of the Family Memorial with the inscription for Ithamar Gaddy. Charity's section is to the right of Ithamar's, but a tree limb lies between them. The names and dates for the children are below Ithamar and Charity. The marker was erected about 1990 by Gaddy descendants after the cemetery suffered severe damage to many of the markers, either through vandalism or carelessness. The marker came down when the tree fell on it during one of our recent hurricanes or storms. It seems to be intact, but lies completely beneath the trunk and limbs of the big fallen tree.
