Pall bearers were Roger Poston, John Posten, Tom Focht, Tom McAlpin, Tom rusk, and Tom Ingersoll. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Izola Vivian Findley Jenkins, daughter of George C. and Louie E. Scott Findley was born May 4, 1908, in Montgomery County, north of Villisca and died Sunday, February 9, 1992 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center where she had resided since 1988. Izola attuned grade school in Taylor and Montgomery Counties. in 1922, she moved to Villisca and was a 1927 V.H.S. graduate. She taught school at Union Center in Adams County for three years and attended summer school in Corning. Izola also worked with area doctors, helping deliver 85 babies. In December 13, 1930, Izola was married to Sterling Jenkins. Three children were born to this union; Raymond Keith, Paul Allison, and Birdie Louise. The Jenkins managed the Spring Lake Oil Station in Corning before moving to Jerome, Idaho and then back to Corning where Mr. Jenkins died in 1938. On October 11, 1938, she moved back to the farm to raise Louise. In December 1961, Izola moved to Villisca and operated a tea room and catering service and cooked for the football team for 17 years. She was the first cook for the congregate meals and continued for 6 1/2 years. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of Progress Club, UMW of the Methodist Church, the Villisca United Methodist Church, as well as receiving awards from the Women’s Division of UMW, Montgomery County Farm Bureau, Villisca Commercial Club, Optimist Club, Youth Appreciation Week, an Villisca Progress Club. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by daughter, Birdie Louise Richie; two grandsons; Ricki D. and William D. Kessler; sister, Lucille Walter, Velma Case, and Grace Wright and husband Jack; brother, George Findley; brother-in-law, Kenneth Jenkins and his wife Irma and their two children; nieces and nephews and friends. Izola was preceded in death by her husband, two children, parents, and two brothers and in-laws, Birdie and Samuel Jenkins. Wolfe Funeral Home was charge in the services.
