Description	:	Jabez Coulson, the son of Henry and Anna Crozier Coulson was born at Hanovrton Columbiana County, Ohio, on the 16th day of July, 1836 and died at his home in Madison township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, July 14, 1910 aged 73 years, 11 months and 28 days. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1854 and was an old pioneer resident of Madison township. He was married to Mary Ellen Boyle to whom were born 3 children, C.P. Coulson and H. C. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1854 and was an old pioneer resident of Madison township. He was married to Mary Ellen Boyle to whom were born 3 children, C.P. Coulson and H. C. Coulson of Chelsea, Iowa and Mrs. T. Brush of Brooklyn, Iowa, all of whom are living. His first wife preceeded him in death in 1883. He was again married to Mrs. Ellen Beadle who with 4 sisters of his survive to mourn his loss, 5 brothers having preceeded him to the better world. He was born and raised a Quaker in faith and his affiliations through life were mostly with faith and doctrine. He was a good obedient husband and a kind father. He was a great sufferer for 9 months but just before the end came he called his children home and bid them all goodby. Among his last words were "if I have come to die I am prepared to go. I tried to live a good man." Funeral services were held at the home on July 16, 1910 conducted by the Rev. A.W. McBlain, pastor of the Madison M.E. Church. He read from the 90th Psalm and selected from the 7th chapter and 14 verse of Ecclesiastes. He was buried in the Kent Cemetery followed there by a long concourse of friends and relatives. Thus another good man and sage is gone.
