He was employed at Iowa Ordinance Plant in Middletown prior to serving with the Army in Korea. He returned to the Ordinance Plant until retiring. He lived most of his life in Stockport. He is survived by his wife; two stepdaughters, Kimberlee Bowen of Eldon and Melissa Covert of Vienna, W. Va.; a stepson Jemes Garrels of Clinton,; a brother, Richard of Agency; and 4 stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Robert; and a sister, Vivian Spray. The service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 1990 at 1 p.m. at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham, the Rev. George Koch officiating. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro. Military Rites will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 of American Legion of Ottumwa at the grave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
