He was born on March 20, 1938, in Milford, NE to Rose (Bursovsky) Carel. He was raised by his grandparents, Leo and Frances Bursovsky in Deweese, NE. He graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, NE. He joined the U.S. Army and served the 82 airborne division. Jack married Judeen Cumpston on December 28, 1956, at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice. After serving 18 months in Korea Jack began his lifelong career as an Ironworker in the local 21 Ironworkers Union. His career took him to many states in the West, Northwest and Midwest but Southeast Nebraska was always home base. Jack had few hobbies but those he had he loved deeply. He loved farming, his dogs, NASCAR racing, fishing and football, especially the Green Bay Packers. He was a loyal friend and would help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his wife and family, and especially his grandchildren. He had a strong Catholic faith. He was a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice and was a current member at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Steinauer, NE. He is survived by his wife, Judeen Bursovsky of Blue Springs; son, Jack Jr. and his wife, Vicki, of Table Rock, daughter, Melanie Bernadt and husband, Galen, of Steinauer, son, Shawn Bursovsky of Arkansas, daughter, LaDawna Tomek and husband, Mark, of Table Rock, son, Greg Bursovsky and wife, Jennifer, of Adams, NE; sisters, Sandra Oltman and Virgina Brown both of Beatrice; brothers, David Carel and wife, Poncina, of Memphis, Tennessee, Gale Carel and wife Kathy of Beatrice; grandchildren, Jessica Bursovsky, Jack Bursovsky III and wife, Mindy, Joshua Bursovsky and special friend, Brittany Walters, Jamie Maloley and husband, Shane, Galen D. Bernadt and wife Megan, Bradley Bernadt and wife, Lindsay, Jodi Eckhout and husband, Evan, Tyler Bursovsky and fiancé, Nicole, Tony Bursovsky, KyLynn Tomek and special friend, Joey Tyler, Branch Tomek and special friend, Karmen Lawver, Maggie Mae Tomek, Megan Bursovsky, Aaron Bedea, and Justin Bedea; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn Vanover of Beatrice; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Frances Bursovsky; mother, Rose (Bursovsky) Carel; parents-in-law, Robert and Milda Cumpston; brother, Larry Carel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Steinauer, NE, with Father Scott Courtney officiating. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beatrice. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Steinauer, NE. The body will lie in state at the Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice, Monday August 26, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice, in charge of arrangements.
