R. Kirchemann officiating. Burial was in the Ritzville cemetery. Mr. Schafer underwent an emergengy appendectomy from which he never recovered. Born in Frank, North Russia, Feb. 5, 1862, Mr. Schafter was married in Russia to Marie Catherine Wideman and they came to the United States in 1891, settling at Bickleton, Wash.
