Jacob Barnhart, retired farmer, who had lived for the past 49 years on his farm three miles northwest of Centropolis, died there early today [Oct. 4, 1922]. He was married to Sarah Flora in Virginia in 1860. The family moved here from Virginia in 1873. Mr. Barnhart was a member of the German Baptist church. The widow, three sons and six daughters survive. The children are: W.R., and Noah Barnhart of Pomona; Mrs. Elizabeth Coffelt, Garwood, Tex.; Mrs. Mary Ford, Lawrence; H.A. Barnhart and Mrs. Ida Sink, Ottawa; Mrs. Lucy Lynch and Mrs. Laura Sink, Baldwin, and Mrs. Sarah Bradshaw of Peyton, Colo. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from Eight Mile church. Elders John Wertz and Nicholas Crist will conduct the services at 2 o'clock. Burial is to be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
