Description	:	Funeral services for Jacob Gommels, 82, were held Wednesday afternoon from the home and St. Paul's American Lutheran church. The Rev. W. E. F. Meier conducted the service with burial in St. Paul's cemetery. Mr. Gommels died early Sunday morning after an illness of several months duration. Meier conducted the service with burial in St. Paul's cemetery. Mr. Gommels died early Sunday morning after an illness of several months duration. Jacob Gommels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gommels, was born in Peoria county, Ill., on August 18, 1865, and lived with his family near Benson until his marriage to Augusta Reis on April 21, 1892. After farming eight years in Illinois the couple came to Iowa and resided six miles southwest of Manson for some 12 years. They then bought a farm a mile northeast of Manson which was their home until they moved to town 26 years ago. He is survived by his wife, one son, Elmer, of Manson; one brother, Frank Gommels, of Benson, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Antje Wiese and Mrs. Anton Ricklefs, both of Manson; one granddaughter, and a host of other relatives and friends. During the services a quartet composed of Roland Collmann, Erwin Vetter, Walter Freidrichs and Glen Martin sang "Have Thine Own Way, Lord." "Abide With Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were five nephews and a nephew-in-law, Herman and Frank Ricklefs, John and Jake Wiese, Jake Collmann and John Thoel. Mrs. R. E. Schumann, Mrs. W. C. Habenicht were in charge of the floral arrangements.
