Services were Saturday, August 29, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with the Rev. John Den Hoed officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Services were Saturday, August 29, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with the Rev. John Den Hoed officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Harskamp was born on September 3, 1904, in Barneveld, The Netherlands, the son of Jan and Alyda ( Rozendaal) Harskamp. He married Bessie Bleyenberg on August 17, 1926. The couple farmed near Ireton, before moving to Sioux Center. They moved into town in 1954. He was employed as a carpenter, and they were janitors at the church for many years. Bessie died December 25, 1997. He was a member of Netherlands Reformed Church. Survivors include a son and his wife, Don and Patricia of Storm Lake; a daughter and her husband, Marge and Bud Lems of Inwood; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Harskamp of Sioux Center; 12 grandchildren; 28 greatgrandchildren; a great-greatgrandchild; a sister and her husband Alyda and Henry Vande Vegte of Sioux Center; and three sisters-in-law, Marie, Hermina and Agnes Harskamp, all of Sioux Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son John, two great-grandsons, six brothers and live sisters. At the funeral service, the organist was Mrs. Wayne Davelaar. The congregation sang "Come, Thou Fount" and "The Lord Our Dwelling Place." Pallbearers were Douglas and Daniel Harskamp, Andrew and Paul Van Kekerix, Dale Lems and Gene Vander Weide. Honorary bearers were Donald D. Harskamp, Donald Lems and Edwin Vander Weide. Sioux Center News 1998-09-01.
