Description	:	Jacob Markley, son of Thomas and Mary Markley, was born August 18, 1858, in Adams county, Iowa, near the John Neill farm in Douglas township and died at his home in Villisca, Iowa, December 12, 1931. at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 24 days. Mr. Markley was one of the first children to be born in Adams county. His parents moved to Oneida, Kansas, in 1857, where they were the early pioneers of the state. Mr. Markley was one of the first children to be born in Adams county. His parents moved to Oneida, Kansas, in 1857, where they were the early pioneers of the state. His father died on the 12th day of December, just seventy-three years before the death of Jacob Markley. The deceased was married to Isabel Bixler January 25, 1882. They lived near Oseida, Kansas, until 1894, when they moved to a farm near Nodaway, Iowa, and lived there until 1900, when they settled on a farm in Douglas township. In 1928 they moved to Villisca, Iowa, where they resided until his death. Jacob Markley was the youngest of four children, his sister, Lavina, and his two brothers. Jonathan and James, all of whom preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn, his wife and several nieces and nephews. He was a fine Christian gentleman, revered by his wife and highly esteemed by all who know him. funeral services were held from the Advent Christian Church of Villisca, Iowa, of which he was a member, on December 15th, 1931, at 1 p.m. The services were conducted by Rev. G. A. Arthur, his pastor, and interment was made in the Nodaway Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, December 17, 1931, page 10
