Perkins 1888-1970 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jacob Monroe Perkins was born in Illinois, March 18, 1852. He removed to the state of Missouri and was married to Mahala White in October 1870. To this union were born nine children, all of whom survive. In the year of 1876, he came to Nebraska, and thirty-five years ago took up his residence at Edgar, which has been his home ever since. His wife died seventeen years ago. Mr. Perkins died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dolly Bray, Grand Island, Nebraska, February 27, 1926, after a lingering illness. Aged 73 years, 11 months and 9 days, being survived by seven daughters and two sons as follows: Mrs. Laura Johnson of Superior, Nebr.; Mrs. Dolly Bray of Grand Island, Nebr.; Mrs. Lillie Swoveland of Detroit Mich.; Mrs. May Gillette of Pasadena, Calif; Mrs. Evalyna Rhoads of Superior, Nebr. Mrs. Retta Osborn of Wheatland, Wyo.; Mrs. Effie Lamoreaux, Limon Colo.; Mr. E.V. Perkins of Sutherland, Nebr.; and Mr. L. W. Perkins of Pasadena, California. He is also survived by two half-brothers, Charles Seals of Indianola, Nebr. and John Seals of Iowa; besides 39 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the home of his niece, Mrs. Frank Anderton, of Edgar, Nebr., Tuesday, March 2,1926 at 2 p.m. Charles A. Shook, minister of the Edgar Christian Church, officiating, after which interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery. Contributed by: Judy Morgon
