Mr. Hupman had been a patient at Kings Daughters Hospital for the past several weeks. For some time he had been a nursing home and hospital patient. A well-known Highland merchant and farmer, he was formerly a member of the Board of Supervisors from Stonewall District. Hupman of Patna, near Headwaters, died at noon Wednesday following an extended illness. Mr. Hupman had been a patient at Kings Daughters Hospital for the past several weeks. For some time he had been a nursing home and hospital patient. A well-known Highland merchant and farmer, he was formerly a member of the Board of Supervisors from Stonewall District. His survivors include a sister, Mrs. Edna Armstrong, of Deerfield, and a half-sister, Mrs. Guy Kiester, of Staunton, and several nieces and nephews. Highland Recorder September 4, 1969 Funeral services were held at 11 a. m. Saturday, Aug. 30 for Jacob Orion Hupman, 72, of Patna, who died Wednesday, Aug. 27 at King Daughters Hospital. The Rev. John Sheffer conducted the service from the Obaugh Funeral Home. Interment was in the Southall Chapel Cemetery south of Headwaters. Mr. Hupman, a well known merchant and farmer, had been ill for several years. He was a son of George and Sarah Swadley Hupman and was born Aug. 31, 1896, in Highland County. He was formerly a member of the Highland County Board of Supervisors from Stonewall Magisterial District, a member of the Stonewall Ruritan Club, and a veteran of World War I. He was also a member of Southall Chapel Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee. Survivors are a sister, Mrs Edna Armstrong, Deerfield, a half sister, Mrs. Maude Keister, Staunton, and a number of nieces and nephews *World War I draft registration card list his birth at Patna, Virginia.
