Nolan, for Many Years a Resident of McCune, Died at His Home in Independence Monday Morning. ―Buried Here Wednesday. ------------------------- Jacob W. Nolan, 70 years old, a resident of McCune for many years until a year ago; when he and Mrs. Nolan moved to Independence, died from a heart attack at his home in Independence Monday morning at 11 o'clock. Funeral services in charge of the Shigley funeral home, and conducted by Rev. John S. Jones, were held in the McCune Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and burial took place in the McCune cemetery. The pall bearers were Harve Long, Chas. Mansfield, Archie Spillman, Clyde Rupard, G. H. Dyer and O. L. Heryford. A soloist from Independence sang two numbers. Mr. Nolan was born June 20, 1876 at Pana, Illinois, and came to this district when quite young. He grew up in the Sherman community, and was married to Miss Margaret Baker in August, 1899. They lived on different farms in this community until about 1915 when they moved to McCune, and he operated a dray line a few years. Mr. Nolan became a substitute mail carrier out of McCune in 1918, and soon afterwards became a regular carrier, and was a carrier until his retirement in 1942. He was very popular as a mail carrier, and in that capacity had a wide circle of friends. Besides the widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Glenn Ruff and Mrs. Hi Vincent Frances Vincent and a step-grandson, Del Ruff of Independence, and a sister, Mrs. Alva Hale of McCune route 2. Another sister, Mrs. Emma Garrison of McCune preceded him in death. Contributed by Will Burris
