Description	:	Jacobus Blauvelt, s. of Isaac Blauvelt the 3rd (Isaac,3 Isaac,2 Gerrit,1) and Sarah Johnson, b. May 24, 1800. He was bapt. June 29, 1800 with the given name Jacobus at the Paramus Ref. Dutch Chh. While many of the males in the interrelated Blauvelt family retained the traditional Dutch use of the Latin form of given names, Jacobus is Latin for the English name James. As an adult Jacobus was known as James Blauvelt. In June 1880 he was living near the Village of Piermont in Orangetown, Rockland County, NY, but when and where he died is unknown. By June 1870 he was identified as a veterinary surgeon. No direct record of his place of interment is known, but it is assumed he is buried with his parents and 1st wife at the Old Paramus Dutch Churchyard, but without a grave marker. On Sept. 26, 1824 at the Pascack Ref. Dutch Chh. in Saddle River, NJ, James m. 1) Hannah Zabriskie, dau. of Jacob Zabriskie and Antje Hopper, b. July 30, 1807 and bapt. Aug. 16, 1807 at the Paramus Ref. Dutch Chh. She d. May 3, 1842 soon after the birth of her 10th child. Only six of her children lived beyond infancy. On Mar. 20, 1845 at the Upper Saddle River Lutheran Chh., James m. 2) Lavinia Zabriskie, dau. of John and Jannetje (Zabriskie) Zabriskie, and widow of Abraham I. Ackerman. She was b. Nov. 24, 1814 and bapt. Dec. 25, 1814 at the Paramus Ref. Dutch Chh. She had three known children by her first husb. and apparently d. during or following birth of her only known child by James, dau. Jane, b. circa 1853-4. Where she is interred is currently unknown. After the death of wife Lavinia, James m. 3) Charity Kennedy, the widow of Abraham I. Cole, latter who d. Aug, 12, 1853. She d. Jan. 18, 1868. There are no known children of this marriage. While an outline of "James" Blauvelt's children will be added later, the current focus is his fourth child and second son: • iv. Jacobus "Jacob" Blauvelt, b. Oct. 21, 1833 (bapt. Mar. 2, 1834 at the Paramus Ref. Dutch Chh.), d. June 10, 1885 in Piermont, Rockland County, NY; m. Oct. 2, 1852 at Greenbush Presby. Chh. in the Village of Blauvelt, NY, his distant cousin Ann Eliza Bell, dau. of Henry D. Bell and Frances "Fanny" Onderdonk, b. Oct. 9, 1836. She d. June 8, 1911 in Philadelphia, Penn.
