Description	:	Jim, "Pokey" was the son of Vernie and Evelyn (Eberth) Peltier. He graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1949, and then attended college after which he entered the United States Air Force and was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. After his discharge he married Betty Mackey on Nov. 13, 1954. Jim worked with his dad in the family fuel delivery business and later opened Jim's Service Station in 1974. He graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1949, and then attended college after which he entered the United States Air Force and was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. After his discharge he married Betty Mackey on Nov. 13, 1954. Jim worked with his dad in the family fuel delivery business and later opened Jim's Service Station in 1974. He continued to run his businesses with Betty and son Wade. He hauled many loads of fuel and oil to the local loggers and farmers, along with fuel and rock drill oil to the North Portal Tunnel and Corps of Engineers Koocanusa reservoir projects. Jim helped his dad build "the cabin" on Dickey Lake and could be found on summer weekends making his famous strawberry ice cream. He often spent time with family and friends camping and fishing on Grave Creek. He was involved in the community Easter egg hunt for decades and loved to see the young kids hunt those eggs. Before there was an ambulance service in Eureka, he and others would often transport patients in their private vehicles to the hospital. Jim was a member of the American Legion, Eureka Volunteer Fire Dept., Eureka Town Council, Lion's Den, and Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernie, Evelyn, and Myrtle; wife Betty; sister Ramona Thompson and brother-in-law Charles Osterberg. He is survived by his children, Wendy (Craig), Mike (Melinda), Wade, Marcy (Scott) and number three son David "Bodie"; sister, Betty; grandchildren, Becky (Josh), Christopher, Kaylene (Zack), Kristen, James Michael Jr., Kaylie, and Paige; great-grandchildren, Abby, Ava, Willow and Zephrin; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services were held Nov. 9, 2013, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 11 a.m., followed by interment at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery with military rites. ________________________________________________
