Burial in the Union Mills Cemetery south east of the Union Mills Christian Church. James Andrew Hargis was the son of Caleb Elisha and Helen May McMains Hargis. Read More	James Hargis age 69 of New Sharon, Iowa went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Burial in the Union Mills Cemetery south east of the Union Mills Christian Church. James Andrew Hargis was the son of Caleb Elisha and Helen May McMains Hargis. He graduated from North Mahaska High School in 1967 and attended the University of Iowa before he was drafted by the US Air Force in 1971. After Jim was honorably discharged, he returned to New Sharon where he farmed with his father in the Mormon Point area near Union Mills. He was married to Nancy Johnson on February 22, 1975 in the Union Mills Christian Church. To this union two children were born, Andrew and Jessica. They owned the Dairy Creme in New Sharon from 1976 to 1983, continuing to farm with his father. In 1994, Jim started his own construction business, JH Builders, having the privilege to work with his children, Andy and Jessica. Jim worked beside his son and daughter for several years before retiring in 2017 due to health reasons. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family especially attending his granddaughters ballgames. He was a faithful member of the Union Mills Christian Church where he shared his love for Jesus Christ. Jim was very active in the church serving as an Elder and Board Member. He was also a member of the Coffin-Miller American Legion Post #446.
