Source: Adams County Free Press (Corning, Iowa) 27 Jan 1909 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ James Buxton, for many years an honored resident of near Cromwell, died at his home in Creston, Tuesday evening [Feb. 2, 1909] at 8:30 of Bright's Disease of which he had been a sufferer for a number of years. He was born in Westmoreland County, Penn., in 1842 and, at the time of his death, was aged 67 years, 1 month, and 11 days. Mr. Buxton came to Iowa in 1869 and located near Cromwell where he continued to reside until a few years ago. He was married to Amelia L. Robinson of Cromwell, who survives him, and to this union were born five children, four of whom are living, they being James Buxton of Kent, Miss Una Buxton residing in California, Charles Buxton residing in Canada, and Mont Buxton who farms the old home place. The deceased was an elder of the United Presbyterian Church of Adams County for twenty-three years and a member of the Congregational Church for fifteen years. The funeral was held from his late residence Thursday [Feb. 4, 1909] morning at 10:30 conducted by Rev. Mr. Hanscom and interment made in Summit Cemetery in Union Township near where he so long resided. Mr. Buxton was 67 years old. For a number of years, deceased was a resident of Adams County and had many friends here who regret to learn of his death. The funeral was held at the house in Creston Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock contucted by Rev. Mr. Hanscom, of the Congregational Church, and interment was made in the Summit Cemetery.
