Although failing in health during the past several months, his passing proved a profound shock to a wide circle of sympathetic friends who did not realize the seriousness of his illness. James Connolly was born in Ireland June 13, 1871, and on his arrival to American spent some time in Michigan and North Dakota before he located at Estevan, Canada. In 1910 he and family arrived in Montana and located on a homestead south and west of Hingham, where he resided until his passing. During the past 29 years our departed friend proved the true worth of hi-line soil by practicing the methods of diversified farming. He also won much success as a stock grower and at no time felt the dire effects of adverse years as a tiller of the soil. He is survived by his wife and two sons Arthur and George. He was devoted to his family and home, and was highly respected by all who knew him as a friend and neighbor. The deepest sympathies are extended to the bereaved wife and sons by the entire community. Funeral services will be held from the Hingham Catholic church at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning. --- Funeral services for the late James Connolly were held from Saint Mary's Catholic Church at 9:30 o'clock last Friday morning with Rev. Father Martins officiating and the mortal remains were laid to rest in the Hingham Union cemetery. The pallbearers, selected from near neighbors who had known the deceased since the pioneering days, were: Ole Jelmo, Albert McNulty, Holbert Hogenson, Paul Surovi, Nels Johnson, and William Friars. James Connolly was born in Ireland, on June 3, 1871, and at the age of 15 years left his home for American to join an uncle in Ohio. A few years later he was employed in the iron mines in northern Michigan, where he joined the rush for homestead lands in North Dakota and settled near Mayville. It was here he spoke the solemn vows of marriage to Miss Susan Olson on March 16, 1899. In 1903, Mr. and Mrs. Connolly were reestablished on a homestead near Estevan, Sask., where they resided until May 1910, at which time they and son Arthur arrived in Montana and located on a homestead southwest of Hingham where deceased lived during the past 29 years of his active life. A wide circle of neighbors and friends extend their heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved wife and family in their hour of deep sorrow. Those who attended the services from out of town were Mrs. L. Eskestrand, Mrs. Bing, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Eskestrand, and Kenneth Eskestrand, all of Havre, Mr. and Mrs. George Riley, Mrs. Lina Riley and Mrs. George Harris, all of Chinook.
