(at this point, the rest is hard to read but he does say something about his two lower ribs) - dated: 19 May 1893 Arkansas Confederate Pensions, 1901-1929 - On this day came before the undersigned, George W Moore & Will Jones certify to be credible persons, are acquainted with J C Reed and have known him all his life. That he was a Confederate soldier, belonged to Company G 3rd, regiment of Ark. Vol. and that he was wounded in said service at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. That this information we derive from the following sources; belonging to the same company and being present when he was wounded. In the line of duty at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on or about the 2nd of July 1863, he received a gunshot wound in the left side ranging from the sternum in front raping(?) through the body and cutting the spinal column just below the ribs.
