Interment in the Harrisonville cemetery will be directed by the Rodrick Funeral Home. Mr. Lindley was born on August 17, 1866 in Park County, Indiana. He was a son of the Rev. Isaac and Elizabeth Lindley. His father was a pioneer minister of the Quaker church and James David Lindley was a birthright member of that church. With his parents, he came to Kansas in 1881. The family settled on a farm a mile south of Bolton. When he was in his early 20's, Mr. Lindley became an employee of the Santa Fe Railroad company and worked on the section. He was soon promoted to section foreman. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Lindley had had 49 continuous years with the company and had never received a demerit mark. On October 19, 1889, Mr. Lindley and Miss Flora Robertson were united in marriage. They made their home in Bolton. Mrs. Lindley preceded her husband in death on May 11, 1945. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lesslie Loh of Sapulpa and Mrs. Faye Gordon of Coffeyville, a sister, Mrs. Hattie J. Adams of Long Beach, Calif., and two brothers, Howard Lindley of Kansas City and B. H. Lindley of this city. Three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren also survive. A son, Larry, five brothers and three sisters and his parents preceded him in death. Mr. Lindley was a member of Bolton Friends Church. ("Independence Daily Reporter," Independence, KS - 30 Sep 1858, pg 3)
