Description	:	James David Utterback was born March 14, 1836, in Johnson county, Indiana. Died April 5, 1926, at the age of 90 years and 22 days. In 1850 he came to Keokuk county with his parents, where he grew to manhood. He spent a few years in the west, crossing the plains with teams. Later returning and was married in the year 1877 to Eliza Jane Herrel who preceded him in death 17 months ago. In 1850 he came to Keokuk county with his parents, where he grew to manhood. He spent a few years in the west, crossing the plains with teams. Later returning and was married in the year 1877 to Eliza Jane Herrel who preceded him in death 17 months ago. He leaves 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and a host of relatives and friends besides the two daughters. After the death of his wife, he and his daughter Lulu, remained in their home at Hayesville until seven months ago and on account of his failing health and advanced age they came to make their home with his other daughter, Mrs. Wilson Jones of Martinsburg, where everything was done that loving hands could do for his comfort until he passed on to the great beyond. Though we miss him, we could not call him back to the pain and toil of earth. He is now at rest in the summer land of peace above. In the sweet bye and bye, we shall meet again. He was a strong believer in the Bible, believing in the Baptist Doctrine.
