Description	:	James Long, 75, a lifetime resident of Nelson, died Saturday, October 27. He was an electrical engineer for many years for R.E.A. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Nelson and a World War I veteran. Funeral services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Klawitter Funeral Home, Nelson, with the Rev. Forrest Grimm officiating. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, November 1, 1973; pg. 4 James Dewey Long, son of Fletcher Benjamin and Tina Cochran Long, was born on a farm near Nelson on August 26, 1898. James, known by all as "Duke", was raised and educated at Nelson. He served his country in World War I in the U.S. Army. On February 21, 1925, he and Nona Chapman were married. He was associated with the R.E.A. for many years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Nona; a son, Jack of Chester, Nebraska; a daughter, Betty June (Mrs. Guy Swanson) of Chatsworth, California; a sister, Mrs. Homer Wehrman of Nelson and two grandchildren. Duke passed away in Nelson on October 27, 1973, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 1 day. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 30, 1973, at 2 p.m. from the Klawitter Funeral Home in Nelson with the Rev. Forrest Grimm officiating. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
