Description	:	James Duane Herink 85, of The Colony, Texas, passed away Friday November 22, 2019, at Mustang Creek Estates (Memory Care) in Frisco, Texas. James was born May 29, 1934, to James and Violet (Podhajsky) Herink of Tama County. Upon finishing school and receiving his Computer Programing Degree, he served in the Army during the Korean War. James married Mary Ann Kucera, of Tama County, on Oct 2, 1956, and resided there where they raised 3 children. James was born May 29, 1934, to James and Violet (Podhajsky) Herink of Tama County. Upon finishing school and receiving his Computer Programing Degree, he served in the Army during the Korean War. James married Mary Ann Kucera, of Tama County, on Oct 2, 1956, and resided there where they raised 3 children. After farming, they moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where James held jobs at the Rail Road, Fisher Controls, Coast to Coast Hardware and later Lennox Heating & Air. He transferred with the Lennox Co. to Texas in 1977. They resided in The Colony, Texas. Both James and Mary Ann volunteered in their church for over 30 years. James was a very handy man, though mostly loved working with wood. He was proud to have made the Cross, Altar and Pulpit for his church, which is still there today. Sadly, dementia had slowly taken James’ life, and left his family with Loving Memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Violet; his Sister, Darlene; his wife, Mary Ann; and his infant granddaughter, Lacy. James is survived by his 3 children and their spouses, daughter, Diane (Russell) vanHolsbeke of The Colony, Texas, daughter, Carolann (Herb) Johnson of Lewisville, Texas, and son, Duane Herink of Marshalltown, Iowa. Also Surviving are his 9 Grandchildren and their spouses, step granddaughter, Katrina (Lee) Summers, Kira (Ben) Hernandez, Duane (Josephine) vanHolsbeke, Ashley (Bill) Cook, Zakary & Alex Herink, step grandson’s Jason, Jacob (Amanda) & Jeremy Johnson; and his 15 great grandchildren, Elyssa & Emery Summers, Tyde & Teagan Cook, Ayla, William & Henry Hernandez, Theodore & Grace vanHolsbeke, Cooper, Grae, Garrett, Berkley, Maggie and McPherson Johnson. A Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on March 21, 2020, at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier, Iowa, with Father David Kucera officiating.
