Description	:	James Earl Meridith, son of Forest Meridith and Delores (Webster) Broughton was born June 3, 1935 at St. Edward, NE. He attended school at St. Edward High School and graduated in 1953. Jim entered the United States Army on April 5, 1954 and served as a Specialist 3rd Class in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 23, 1956. Read More	James Earl Meridith, son of Forest Meridith and Delores (Webster) Broughton was born June 3, 1935 at St. Edward, NE. He attended school at St. Edward High School and graduated in 1953. Jim entered the United States Army on April 5, 1954 and served as a Specialist 3rd Class in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 23, 1956. Jim was united in marriage to Joyce Francis Adams on June 10, 1957 at St. Edward, NE. They made their home and raised their family in the St. Edward area. Jim worked at JW Grain, Behlen, and retired from Lindsay Manufacturing. He was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, Knights of Columbus, and the Crosier American Legion Post #226 of St. Edward. In Jim’s younger years he was a Golden Glove Boxer, and was a great 2nd baseman for the town team baseball team. He also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and hunting. Jim is survived; 4 sons: Todd of Lake Preston, SD; Joe (Heike) of Columbus, NE; Jerry (Amy) of Gothenburg, NE; Jason (Kelly) of Columbus, NE; 10 grandchildren: Jessica (Chris) Thacker, Amanda (Todd) Nitsche, Jennifer Meridith, Lesli (Jeremy) Schrieber, J.C., Elisa, Grant, Dezmin, and Morgan Meridith, and Keisha Hernandez; six great-grandchildren: Alexis Seawel, Mason Thacker, Deckard Meridith and Griffin, Anderson, and Hudson Nitsche; two sisters: Ella (Howard) Milburn and Linda Dickenson, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Forest Meridith and Delores Broughton; wife Joyce; grandsons: Alec and Kaleb Meridith; sister Donna Florence; mother and father-in-law Merwin and Frances Adams.
