Description	:	Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Ekalala for James Hubbard of the Elgin community, who passed away, August 17, 1945 at the Dahl Memorial hospital following an illness of several weeks and a decline in health of a number of years. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery near Ekalaka. James E. Hubbard was born December 17, 1886 at Exira, Ia. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery near Ekalaka. James E. Hubbard was born December 17, 1886 at Exira, Ia. When he was eight years of age, the family moved to Knox County, Nebr. in the vicinity of Knoxville, where he grew to manhood. In 1891, he was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Mattie E. Davidson at Pierce, Nebr. To this union five sons and three daughter were born. Two sons, Lester James and Brice Merton preceded him to the great beyond. Mr. Hubbard, wife and family came to Montana to homestead in the Box Elder valley, near Elgin post office in 1910, where he resided for 35 years. During his long residence, he made many sincere and lasting friendships. As one friend has said, "His word was as good as gold." Survivors include his widow, three daughters and three sons; Jay W., Lisle R., Gerald M. of Pierpont, S.D Ina (Nels) Kalstrom, Dorris (Jack) Talkington and Cassie (J.P.)
