I do not know for certain when he was born, but for the purposes of this memorial, I am using the birth date that James himself provided on his World War 1 Draft Registration. --------------- Obituary From Ottumwa Daily Courier, Friday, July 14, 1939, Page 12: James Edward Craft, 61, died at his home on Ottumwa route 2 Thursday at 12:15 p.m. Son of Squire and Louisa Craft, he was born near Ottumwa March 7, 1878. Surviving are his wife, Emma; a daughter, Mrs. Florence L. Butler of Ottumwa route 2; two brothers, Samuel Craft of Ottumwa route 2 and Eli of Neosho, Mo.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, daughter, four sisters and three brothers. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Johnson's funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. L.E. Welshons, pastor of the Open Bible church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
