Description	:	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Mr. James Edward Wall, age 87, of Pilot Mtn., died at Forest Heights, Winston-Salem, N.C., after an extended illness. A Surry County native, Mr. Wall was born Oct. 1, 1927, to the late Boss McKinley Wall and Lillian Simpson Wall. Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Mr. James Edward Wall, age 87, of Pilot Mtn., died at Forest Heights, Winston-Salem, N.C., after an extended illness. A Surry County native, Mr. Wall was born Oct. 1, 1927, to the late Boss McKinley Wall and Lillian Simpson Wall. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pilot Mtn., and served on the Building and Grounds committee for many years. Mr. Wall was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy. He was a long-time resident of Pilot Mountain, was kind-hearted and loved by his neighbors and friends, and was always ready to help others in times of need. When it snowed, he was busy cleaning driveways and trying to make life easier for others. Mr. Wall was employed by, and part-owner of, Cox Funeral Home for many years. He was most recently affiliated with Howell-Nelson Funeral Home in Pilot Mtn. As a funeral director, he practiced and maintained the standard of his profession faithfully, always doing his best to comfort others. As a long-time member of the Pilot Mountain Civic Club, and a past Civic Club Man of the Year, Ed was loved and cherished by his family and his community. Surviving is his wife of 23 years, Pattie Griffin Wall, his grandchildren: Katharine (Katie) Frances Pollock, Garrison Edward Pollock, and Davidson McKinley Pollock; son-in-law, F. Edward Pollock, Jr.; sister-in-law, Mildred Wall; stepchildren, Laura (Rodney) Hardy, Paula (Chris) Stone, and Amy (Andy) Jessup; step-grandchildren, Griffin and Claire Hardy, Hunter and Leah Stone, and Meredith and Alexandria (Alex) Jessup; two favorite nieces, Jenny (James) Jessup and Tamra Wright (Ron) Thomas, and his very special canine friend, "Pete" Patrick Wall. Mr. Wall was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Frances Wall Pollock; brother, Aubrey McKinley Wall; sister, Vernis W. Atkins; favorite nephew; Stephen McKinley Wall; niece, Kay R. Fulkerson. A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church in Pilot Mtn. on Sunday, December 7, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Mike Willard and Rev. Gene Sherrill officiating. There will be a private interment at Skyline Memory Gardens following the service. Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Center of Surry, Inc., at PO Box 692, Dobson, NC, Surry Medical Ministries., a charity dear to Mr. Wall, where he was a board member, at PO Box 349, Mt.
