Final Rites Held Monday for James Foust Funeral services for James Edwin Foust, 90, Sioux Rapids, were held Monday, March 19, at the Congregational church with Rev. Vern Willey officiating. Burial was in Lone Tree cemetery with the Henry Funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were Alfred Bright, Ben Hollesen, Earl Rukes, Art Mills, Leland Cheevers and Carrol Ensley. James Edwin Foust, son of Jacob and Margaret Foust, was born in Hamilton County, Ia., September 14, 1868, and passed away at the Sioux Rapids hospital, March 16, 1956, after a lingering illness. Ed, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was the eldest son of a family of ten. At the age of six months the family moved to a homestead in Cherokee county. He attended schools of the district and helped his father on the farm through early manhood. On April 4, 1900, he was united in marriage to Flora Ellen Monk of Pocahontas, Ia., and to this union were born ten children. Their early years of marriage were spent on a farm near Aurelia. Later they continued on farms in Buena Vista and Palo Alto counties until 1933 when they moved to Sioux Rapids where he resided until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Herman, and a daughter, Mary. He leaves to mourn his passing three daughters and five sons: James and John of Storm Lake; Warrel, Howard and Ted of Sioux Rapids; Mrs. Roy Hauschen of Emmetsburg; Mrs. Vincent Haldin and Mrs Howard Cheevers of Sioux Rapids; 25 grandchildren ; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a score of friends.
