James Elmer Taylor was born March 30, 1867, at Spencer, Indiana and departed this life at his home in Minden on October 12, 1942, at the age of 75 years, 6 moths and 12 days. He moved with his parents from Indiana to Adams County, Nebraska, in 1878 and lived there and in Webster County until he came to Minden in 1884. He was united in marriage with Ruth Russell on June 2, 1918. For many years Mr. Taylor was in well and windmill work throughout this section of the country and retired about two years ago because of failing health. He served on the Minden city council for 10 years and was always interested in civic affairs. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as an active elder for 10 years. Three brothers preceded him in death, William and Shepherd of Trenton and Noah of Minden. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, one sister, Mrs. Mary Rhoad of McCook; a brother, O. H. Taylor of Minden, and a number of nephews and nieces. Minden Courier
