Taylor, 66, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Laurence Strine Tuesday. The Rev. Wilbur F. Swan was in charge of the services. Taylor, 66, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Laurence Strine Tuesday. The Rev. Wilbur F. Swan was in charge of the services. Orien Howard Taylor was born at Spencer, Indiana, September 10, 1877 and passed away very suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Laurence Strine in Minden, Nebraska, November 9, 1943, at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 30 days. His passing was a shock to friends and neighbors, as he had not been ill very long. He came to Nebraska with his parents in 1878 when they homesteaded near Red Cloud and later moved with them to Minden in 1884. He received his elementary schooling in the Minden Schools and when just a young man in his teens began working for the Minden Brick yard. When he was 23, he started to work for the Burlington Railroad, retiring from that work in October, 1942, after 43 years of service to that company. Thirty-one years of this time he was section foreman, holding sections at Heartwell, Cambridge and Minden. While he was at Heartwell the elevator burned and had it not been for his quick action the depot would also have burned. For this fine service the Railroad Company sent him a letter of commendation. He later served 10 years on the Minden Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Taylor was for some time a member of the Masonic Lodge at Minden. He was married in 1908 to Martha Brothe. To this union were born 5 children, one of whom, an infant son, preceded him in death. Left to mourn his passing are the four remaining children, one grandson and one sister.
