E. Mace is Victim of Stroke Tuesday Morning FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD HERE FRIDAY FOR FORMER BANK HEAD J. E. Mace, one time cashier of the old Allerton State bank, and widely known former resident, died at 3 a.m. on Tuesday after a stroke suffered late the evening before. Mr. Mace's home was in Waterloo. The body will be brought to Allerton Friday morning and the funeral services will be held that afternoon at 2:00 from the Allerton Methodist church. The Rev. J. W. Gruber will officiate, after which interment will be made in the Allerton cemetery. Mr. Mace is said to have left Allerton about twenty five years ago, going first to Des Moines and later to Waterloo. He came to Allerton from Lineville in 1901 or 1902. Surviving are his wife and eight children: Bill Mace, Mrs. Jack Cummins of St Joseph, Mo.; Mrs. Art Weissinger of Boston Mass.; Elford of Waterloo; Mrs. Bruce Thomas of Des Moines; Dean, Dale and Marjorie at home. There are also three sisters and a brother living. The sisters are Mrs. Fred Lane and Mrs. Oral Sparks of Des Moines; and Mrs. Lee Caldwell, who lives near Chicago, R. A. Mace of Allteron is the brother. OBITUARY The Allerton News Thursday June 23, 1938 Mace Rites are Held on Friday Here One Time Business Man Of Allerton is Buried at Local Cemetery Funeral Services were held here Friday afternoon for James E. Mace, better known to local residents as Rad Mace. The former resident died at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday at Waterloo after a stroke of paralysis suffered the night before at his office in the Miller Motor Co. The Rev. J. W. Gruber conducted the services at the Methodist church. Music was furnished by a duet made up of Miss Nellie Sewart and Mrs. George F. Dimmitt. Mrs. Karl Binau accompanied at the piano. Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Mace. Interment was in the Allerton cemetery. For the past four years Mr. Mace has been wholesale manager of the Miller Motor Co. at Waterloo. He and his wife moved from Des Moines to Waterloo about ten years ago, and had lived in Allerton a number of years prior to going to Des Moines. He was cashier of the Allerton bank while he lived here. James E. Mace was born in Wayne County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Mace. He was married to Clara Alice Williams at Allerton November 20, 1890. Mrs. Mace and eight children survive. They are Dean and Dale at home; Elford of Waterloo and William of Los Angeles, Calif., Marjorie Mace and Mrs. B. R. Thomas of Des Moines; Mrs. J. C. Cummins of St. Joseph, Mo.; and Mrs. A. F. Weissinger of Worchester, Mass. There were also three sisters, Mrs. Fred Lane and Mrs. Oral Sparks of Des Moines; Mrs. Lee L. Caldwell of Hammond, Ind., and a brother, R. A. Mace of Allerton.
