Kruse, prominent Creighton citizen. Death, caused by a bullet wound in the head, was self inflicted, according to County Attorney A.L. Burbridge, who as coroner made an investigation and decided no inquest was necessary. Mr. Kruse had been in ill health for some time. By virtue of his extensive land interests and through the fact that he twice was state legislator, Mr. Kruse was well known over Knox county. He was also among the older residents of the county, coming here in 1881 or 57 years ago. He would have been 74 years old June 12. Funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Saturday forenoon at the home and burial was made in Greenwood cemetery. Officiating pastor at the services was Rev. George B. Anderson of the Federated church. The casketbearers were A.W. Marquardt, Wid Turner, Richard Steele, W.H. Van Doozer, Dr. G.E. Printy and J.F. McGill. James George Kruse was born at Comanche, Ia. on June 12, 1864. At death June 9, he lacked but three days of being 74 years old. He was the son of Peter and Abel Klindt Kruse. He came to Knox county with his parents in 1881 and for a number of years resided on a farm east of Creighton. During his early years he attended college at Valparaiso, Ind. On December 24, 1885 he was married to Susan C. Peirce. To this union two daughters, Bernice and Laura were born. His wife passed away March 18, 1938. In the years 1891 and 1893 he represented this district in the lower house of the Nebraska legislature. In 1919 the family moved to Creighton where he entered the real estate and loan business, which he was actively engaged in until recent illness. Mr. Kruse leaves as survivors of his immediate family, two daughters, Mrs. Erik Riisness and Mrs. Harry W. Woodworth, the latter of Topeka, Kans. and eight grandchildren.
