He was the son of James G. and Elizabeth Hobbs, born in Ottumwa July 31, 1858. He lived his entire life here. Mr. Hobbs was the last of his family. He married Cora Jane Poncy June 14, 1890. She survives him. She survives him. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Thrasher, Ottumwa, Mrs. Ella Zieske, Rhodes, Iowa, and Mrs. Eujennia Kennis, Ottumwa, two sons, William Hobbs at home and Lester Hobbs, Ottumwa. There are 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Maude Williams, in 1912. Mr. Hobbs was a member of the Church of Christ. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting completion of funeral arrangements. ~~~~~~~~ Ottumwa Courier Funeral services for James G. Hobbs, who died Sunday at his home, 617 Wabash avenue, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. W.B. Friend, pastor of the Pentecostal church. Burial will be made in McIntire cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Williams, Clifford Williams, Glenn Zieske, William Thrasher, Donald Kennis and Floyd Harris. ------------ Following information provided by Laura Hawkins FIND A GRAVE ID 47117409: I have found in my research that James Grany Hobbs was first married to Cynthia J Dickerson 21 July 1885 in Ottumwa, Wapello Co.
