Description	:	Obituary. James Harrison Thompson was born in Anderson County, Kansas, June 16th, 1837 and died at the home of his son, Charles Thompson, in Pilot Grove Township, October 25th, 1912. His age being 75 years, 4 months and 9 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Jane Halbert August 23rd, 1857, and to this union were born eight children, seven of who are still living and all were present at his funeral. James Harrison Thompson was born in Anderson County, Kansas, June 16th, 1837 and died at the home of his son, Charles Thompson, in Pilot Grove Township, October 25th, 1912. His age being 75 years, 4 months and 9 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Jane Halbert August 23rd, 1857, and to this union were born eight children, seven of who are still living and all were present at his funeral. The living children are: Mrs. Kate Downey, Joseph E., Mrs. Merrilla Brown, William M., James H., Charles E., and Mrs. Lottie O. Adams. Emma J., died in infancy and his wife died three years ago last March. He lived in Hancock County, Illinois, until 1881 when he with his family moved to Pilot Grove Township, which has been his home until his death. In 1898 he with his wife united with the Methodist church at Pilot Grove and was a faithful member until his death. He had been gradually failing in health since the death of his companion and his one great desire and aim has been to so live that though separated by a few years that soon a happy reunion might take place. He was not sick even at the last but being ripe with age his strength failed, and after being confined to his bed for two days, tired nature gave away and he fell asleep in Jesus, the end being quiet and peaceful. He leaves to mourn his loss a brother, sister, seven children, 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted from the Pilot Grove M. E. church Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Jackson Giddens, the Pastor, after which the mortal remains were laid to rest in the Pilot Grove Center cemetery, by the church. The floral offerings from the children and friends consisted of many beautiful made up pieces and large bouquets. A large congregation of people was present at the funeral to pay their last respects to the departed one. THE ELLIOTT GRAPHIC, Elliott, Iowa, October 31, 1912.
