Description	:	James Harvey Stamper, 71,died at his home in Indepenence Friday night, July 14, 1961 Death followed shortly after an attack about ten o'clock, although he had been in declining health for some time. Mr. Stamper was born at Laurel Springs, N. C., in Alleghany County, September 12, 1890, a son of the late Preston Stamper and wife, Mrs. Sophina Galyean Stamper. Del. two sisters, Mrs. Fred Rector, Galax, and Mrs. George Osborne, Independence four brothers, Chap Stamper and Walter Stamper, both of Independence Reavis Stamper, Roanoke, and Garnett Stamper, Galax his step mother, Mrs. Leona Stamper, Galax, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at Rock Creek Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Edd Douglas and Elder C. C. Sawyers. Interment was in the church cemetery. The body was removed from Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, to the church one hour before the services. Pallbearers were Swanson Osborne, Fred Thompson, Jack Stamper, James Stamper, Edward Stamper, Larry Vanhoy, Jesse Hackler and Paris Hackler
