Jamas H. Debusk was born In Illinois December 15, 1848. Early in life his parents moved to Madison county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. On May 2, 1872 he was united in marriage to Lucy Jane Bishop of Case county, Iowa, and to this union ten children were born, all of living:—Charles H. Debusk of San Benito Texas; Mrs. J. A. Grimm of Newton , Kansas; Mrs. Robert Abernethy of Henry. Nebraska; Mrs. Louise Prentice of Torrington, Wyoming Lewis L. Debusk, James Arthur Debusk, Mrs. Owen Davis, Mrs. Laura Childs, Mrs. Fred McKee and Mrs. Lee Taylor all of Sargent and vicinity. In 1908 Mr. Debusk and family moved to Custer county Nebraska and located on a farm for which he lived for a number of years, later on moving into this city which has been his home ever since. About thirty-five years ago he became, an active and devote worker in the Church of Christ and has served in some official capacity most of the time since. His last sickness began last May, and he gradually failed until his death January. 1, 1924, at.the. age of 77 years, and 17.days. He leaves, to mourn their loss besides his ten children a devoted wife forty grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and a host of friends One of his grandchildren, Mrs. Elmer Gallaher died several week ago. Her death brought the first break in the family. His was the second. Nearly fifty-two years without a break is an unusual family record. The funeral was held at the Christian church Thursday forenoon. Rev J. S. Reel of Fort Dodge Iowa but formerly a pastor of the Christian Church here preached a very comforting sermon which was also a forceful appeal to the living to live Christian life. Mr. Reel said that during his pastorate here he found Mr. Debusk to be faithful to his master and always anxious that his relatives and friends should also serve Him. It was because of his high esteem for Mr. Debusk that Mr. Reel came here from Iowa in response to word that Mr. Debusk so desirous of seeing him. The singing was of mixed quartette:-Mrs. S. D. Wheeler, Mrs. George Steinhoff, Miss Harriet Leisinger, Mr. A. F. Phillips, and Mrs. Isaac Bess accompanied at the piano The songs were "Rock of Ages, "My Jesus, I Love Thee.*' and "There'll be no Dark Valley when He Comes." The seating capacity of the church' was exhausted by those who came to pay their last respects to the memory of a good and righteous man. Interment was made in the Sargent' cemetery.
