Description	:	Mrs. Lucy Jane DeBusk passed away at Mr. and Mrs. Levoy Todd home in Sargent where she has been cared for during the past few years. The funeral services were held in the Sargent Methodist church at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 3, 1944. The services were conducted by the Rev. Edward A. Smith, pastor of the church, who preached the funeral sermon. The singing was by a mixed quartette composed of Mrs. Hazel Amos, Mrs. Merle Cosner, Supt. Almus O. Larsen and Mr. Thomas Mcintosh with Mrs. Leone Shettron accompanying. The songs used were "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me. " The pall bearers were Marinus Morse, Maynard Morse, LeRoy Todd, Ira Bauer, Burton McKco, and Leo DeBusk. The last three named are grandsons of the deceased. Interment was made in the Sargent Township Cemetery, which has been known as Mount Hope Cemetery for sixty years or more. Lucy Jnne Bishop, daughter of Rev. Lewis and Sarah Bishop, was born in the state of Iowa December 10, 1854, and passed away on November 30, 1944, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Todd in Sargent, Nebraska, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 20 days. She grew to womanhood in and around Atlantic, Iowa, her father being a minister in that locality. On May 2, 1872, she was married at Atlantic, Iowa, to James H. DeBusk, and to this union ten children were born, three boys and seven girls, nine of whom are still living. They are Haden DeBusk of San Benito, Texas; Ella Davis of Harris, Kansas; Inez Grimm of Vinita, Oklahoma; Laura Corr of Paradise, California; Arthur DeBusk of Sargent, Nebraska; Lucy Prentice o f Yoder, Wyoming, Hattie Abernethy, of Henry, Nebraska; Ethel McKee of Broken Bow, Nebraska; Lula Taylor of York, Nebraska. Besides raising her family of ten children, she also raised three of her grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death January 1, 1924, and her son Lewis L. DeBusk in October, 1936. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Esther Camblin of San Bernardino, California. Also surviving her are forty six grandchildren, eighty-four great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, making a total of 142 direct descendants living. Eight grandsons and three great grandsons are serving with the armed forces of the United States. In October, 1902, she moved with her husband and family from Iowa to Custer county, Nebraska, where she has since made her home with the exception of about two years when the family lived in South Dakota. She united with the Baptist church when quite young and remained a member until the family moved to Nebraska. She was one of the first members of the Christian church in Sargent and was still a member at the time of her death. She was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted and was much loved by all who knew her. Her greatest joy in life was to have her children and grandchildren around her.
