Description	:	James M. Kemper was born in Putnam county, Indiana, February 14, 1844. He enlisted in Company C, 18th, Iowa Infantry, and was honorably discharged July 20th, 1865, having faithfully performed his duty to his country for three years. Mr. Kemper was married to Sarah E. Thompson in Appanoose county, Iowa, November 28, 1867. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Belle Ellis of McCool and Miss Minnie at home. The wife, two daughters, three grandchildren are left to mourn his departure, which occurred July 13, 1911; aged sixty-seven years, four months and twenty-nine days.... Read More	James M. He homesteaded the farm on which he passed away, having resided there almost continuously for forty years. Funeral services were held from the home Friday afternoon, July 14, conducted by Rev. William Ellwood, pastor of the Fairmont Congregational church. Interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery, the service at the grave being in charge of the G.A.R. Post of Fairmont.
