Description	:	Robert Oden, known by everyone as Robbie Kemper was born November 23, 1889, killed August 23, 1896. Sunday evening about five o'clock, Robbie went to the barn to play, as was supposed, but being gone from the house longer than usual his mama, as he called her, went to look for him. Failing to find him, she supposed he had gone to a neighbor's. Read More	Robert Oden, known by everyone as Robbie Kemper was born November 23, 1889, killed August 23, 1896. Sunday evening about five o'clock, Robbie went to the barn to play, as was supposed, but being gone from the house longer than usual his mama, as he called her, went to look for him. Failing to find him, she supposed he had gone to a neighbor's. A search was immediately made and between 8 and 9 o'clock, his little form was found in the pasture, horribly bruised and one limb broken. A horse was found later with a rope on its neck, which tells the sad story. It is thought that he became entangled in the rope, which frightened the horse and caused him to run, dragging and trampling the little fellow to death. His own mamma died when he was a young babe, and it was her request that he be taken to the home of J.M. Kemper, her uncle, where he could be cared for. He knew no other parents and they loved him dearly. He was a good child and a comfort to them. His sudden death seems more than they can bear.
