Mrs. Stubbs is a granddaughter of Jane Churchill, who used to own the famous "Rose Gill" estate, near Urbanna, Va. An immense crowd assembled to witness the marriage. Stubbs Funeral Today Confederate Veteran Died Sunday at Lee Home Funeral services for James M. Stubbs, former member of the General Assembly of Virginia and a well-known Confederate veteran, who died Sunday at the R. E. Lee Camp Soldiers' Home, will be conducted this afternoon at St. Andrew's Methodist Church, Gloucester County. Burial will be in the church cemetery at 2 p.m. Mr. Stubbs was born April 21, 1845, in Gloucester County and was a son of the late John Stubbs and Mrs. Virginia Mitchell Stubbs. He has been a resident of the Soldiers' Home for several years. He served with distinction in the Army of Northern Virginia throughout the entire period of the War Between the States as a member of Company A, Twenty-sixth Virginia Infantry. Mr. Stubbs is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Roy Stubbs; two daughters, Mrs. E. M. Bew of this city, and Mrs. Velma Sparrow of Mathews County, and four sons, John W. Stubbs of Gloucester County, R. H. Stubbs of Saluda, James M. Stubbs Jr. and Archie Stubbs, both of Philadelphia.
