Description	:	James Noble Davis was born in Gibson County, Indiana, October 11, 1856, and died at St John's, Oregon, July 27, 1915 aged 58 years, 9 months and 16 days. The funeral was held from the home of Mrs. Cora J. Odell and the Methodist church at Weston Friday, August 6th conducted by the pastor Rev. ? L. Barch. He came with his parents, Captain and Mrs. Wm. Read More	James Noble Davis was born in Gibson County, Indiana, October 11, 1856, and died at St John's, Oregon, July 27, 1915 aged 58 years, 9 months and 16 days. The funeral was held from the home of Mrs. Cora J. Odell and the Methodist church at Weston Friday, August 6th conducted by the pastor Rev. ? L. Barch. He came with his parents, Captain and Mrs. Wm. Davis, to Saunders county in March 1873, the family locating on land, a portion of which later became included in the town site of Weston. He was married to Nellie May Odell October ?, 1879, who died February 21, 1889. Survivors: two daughters and one son, Mrs. Bert Moss, Winner, S. D., Mrs. Melville Hathaway, Portland, Oregon, Clyde Folsom, Ulysses, Nebr., ? Alfred Tennyson, a soldier in the Spanish-American War, died in Manila, September 9, 1902. He is also survived by three brothers and six sisters: Mrs. Susan C. Bryant, Mrs. H. C. Stevens, John W. and Charles W., Portland, Oregon; Joseph N. Davis, Wahoo; Mrs. Ann V. Mauck, Mrs. Mary V. Hill, Mrs. Cora Odell, Weston; Mrs. C. N. Folsom, Ashland. His father, Captain William Davis, died in 1885, his mother eight years later, both being buried at Weston. A sister, Mrs. Sarah Alexander Peake, died two years ago in Portland. Deceased was an upright, highly respected Christian man, and the many friends and neighbors present at the funeral, from the various localities in which he was held by all. He was an honored member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen and the funeral rites of that order were read at the grave. He affiliated in early life with the Methodist church later becoming a member of the Baptist church. He died with the abiding faith in the promise of Divine Scripture, and a hope of immortality beyond the grave. The sorrowing family have the heartfelt sympathy of all in this great bereavement. CARD OF THANKS We heartily thank our many friends for the loving kindness shown at the death and burial of our dear father. Mrs. Bert Moss, Mrs. Melville Hathaway, Clyde Folsom WAHOO WASP; AUGUST 12, 1915 James Davis who died suddenly at Portland, was shipped to this place for burial. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon with interment in the Weston cemetery. Rev. Barch officiated. Mr. Davis was formerly a citizen of this community. WAHOO WASP; AUGUST 12, 1915
